BAND MEMBERS
Chuck Clawson (guitars, vocals)
Chuck began playing guitar in 1965 in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. After being forced to leave the state, he started Monkey Child in June 2003. Chuck has written over 100 songs, some of which he can remember the words to. In his spare time he teaches high school for Denver Public Schools, which he considers perfect training for running a band.

Dave Bauer (keyboards, vocals)
Dave has played keys since age six. He played in a string of forgettable New Jersey-based garage bands in his college years, toured Europe with the Virginia Tech Techmen glee club, and since then has mostly focused on having a non-music job that actually pays money.

Mark Byrd (bass, vocals)
Byrdman hails from Cheyenne, Wyoming where he played with the band Low Clearance, who were considered the "Doobie Brothers of Cheyenne" in the late '70s, playing the entire Doobies catalog. Byrdman has played both 6- and 12-string guitar most of his life, in addition to bass. After moving to Denver, Byrdman played with several other bands that you've never heard of. He is ending that string with Monkey Child.

Dennis Hurlburt (drums)
Dennis joined Monkey Child in 2007 after the rhythm tracks of our debut CD were already recorded, but that sure hasn't stopped him from playing some mean drums at our live shows.

ABOUT THE BAND
MONKEY CHILD is a rock band, playing music written by their founder Chuck Clawson and by keyboardist Dave Bauer. Monkey Child is also an aggressively indie songwriter collaboration that keeps it's chops sharp as a local bar and party band, meaning we play a lot of very different covers as well on a three- or four-set night. With bassist and singer Mark Byrd's influence on arrangements, and exceptionally solid licks on the p-bass, Monkey Child's sound has been compared to John Hiatt, John Mellencamp, The Doobie Brothers, Van Morrison and Ryan Adams.

We call what we do alt.roots, but that's OUR name for it. We've been labeled heartland, americana, and pop-rock. Whatever it is, we write, play, and produce it ourselves. Founded in 2003, we've been working together close to five years now and plan to continue. Portions of our next album are already recorded. Dave and Chuck continue to write new material, and we continue to gig. Come out and see one of our live shows sometime soon!
